Brazil MotoGP podium riders defend organisers amid track surface concerns

The podium finishers from the Brazil MotoGP Grand Prix supported organisers after a weekend dominated by track surface controversy. Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio all praised the efforts made to ensure racing could take place despite difficult conditions at the Goiania circuit.

Heavy rain earlier in the week caused flooding and damaged parts of the newly resurfaced track. Concerns increased when a hole appeared on the start finish straight after qualifying. Officials later decided to shorten the race distance from 31 laps to 23 only minutes before the scheduled start.

Riders reported loose sections and stones being thrown up by bikes during the race. Marc Marquez even lost a podium chance after running wide on a degrading surface. Despite these issues, the podium trio highlighted the huge work carried out behind the scenes to prepare the venue for MotoGP return to Brazil after more than two decades.

Bezzecchi described the organisation as impressive given the scale of the project. He pointed to the new paddock facilities and circuit upgrades as positives for the future. Martin agreed, explaining that extreme weather made the situation difficult but praised the determination to keep the event on the calendar.

Di Giannantonio also thanked organisers for their commitment. He emphasised that hosting a modern MotoGP round requires major logistical effort. While acknowledging areas for improvement, the Italian said the overall experience remained positive for riders and fans.

The Brazil weekend delivered intense racing alongside operational challenges. Organisers now face the task of refining track durability ahead of a possible return next season.
