The road racing community has lost one of its own. Alan Oversby, 68, from Bolton-le-Sands in Lancashire, lost his life during the 400cc race at the Pre-TT Classic Road Races on the Billown Course on Sunday, on the approach to Ballakeighan on lap two. Alan was an experienced and much loved competitor, first racing the Pre-TT Classic in 2005 and taking his first win in 2006. He took 16 wins in total, including two on Sunday. He is survived by his wife Julie, his family, team and friends.

The Isle of Man Constabulary has launched its 2026 TT road safety campaign as thousands of visitors prepare to arrive on the island. The campaign is titled How Will Your TT End, You Choose, and builds on previous years. Superintendent Danny Rotchell said the message is firm but fair, with both visible and covert police units deployed across the island throughout the TT fortnight. In 2025, 32 road traffic collisions caused slight to serious injuries during the TT period.

TT organisers have made significant changes to the 2026 qualifying schedule to reduce the risk of weather disruption. Wednesday May 27 will feature both daytime and evening qualifying sessions on the same day, with the full course closing from 12.30pm for Qualifying 3, reopening at 4.30pm and then closing again from 6pm for Qualifying 4. Thursday May 28 has been designated a full rest day but will also serve as a major contingency day should poor weather affect earlier sessions. Smarter planning after recent weather chaos.

The Isle of Man TT 2027 dates are officially confirmed. The event runs from Monday 31st May to Saturday 12th June 2027, with TT 2028 provisionally set for Monday 29th May to Saturday 10th June 2028. Qualifying week runs from May 31 to June 4, with racing beginning on June 5 and the Senior TT closing proceedings on June 12. Fans, teams and travellers now have maximum time to plan. The Mountain Course is calling.

Defending Superbike winner Davey Todd has been declared medically unfit for the 2026 Isle of Man TT. Despite intensive rehabilitation in Italy following a major crash at the Daytona 200 in March, medical specialists concluded his injuries, including fractures to his femur and tibia, have not sufficiently recovered. A gutted Todd will now support his 8TEN Racing team from the sidelines. 

Marc Marquez posted on social media the day after his double surgery in Madrid: “The surgery was a success. I am truly grateful for your kind messages and support. A special thanks to the medical team for their incredible work.” Surgeons stabilised the fifth metatarsal fracture in his right foot and removed two screws and a bone fragment from a 2019 Latarjet shoulder procedure that had shifted and was compressing the radial nerve. Marquez targets a return at Mugello.

Thursday’s North West 200 Superbike qualifying session was hit with major delays after a red flag incident on the course, with an initial 45 minute stoppage followed by an additional hour delay and then a further 90 minute extension announced at 12:15 BST. Dean Harrison on the Honda was leading the session from Glenn Irwin’s Ducati when the stoppage occurred. Roads are due to reopen by 15:00 BST ahead of three evening races.

Michael Dunlop has gone unbeaten in the TT Supersport class since racing resumed in 2022 and seeds sixth for 2026. Mike Browne leads the class from number one on Yamaha R9 machinery making its Mountain Course debut, with Paul Jordan second on a Ducati after switching from Honda. Dean Harrison is third for Honda with Jamie Coward fourth, while Dunlop’s MD Racing Ducati gives him a shot at a record ninth consecutive Supersport win.

TT 2026 runs from May 25 to June 6 with a revised schedule including a third rest day and seven qualifying sessions for the first time. Eight former solo race winners with 97 TT victories between them are entered, led by Michael Dunlop’s 33 wins. Amazon MGM Studios will film a Channing Tatum feature movie on the island during TT week. The most anticipated TT in years is less than three weeks away.
