The Isle of Man TT needs no introduction. The world’s most dangerous, most spectacular, most emotionally complex motorsport event returns from May 25 to June 6 2026., and the entry list assembled for this year’s races is one of the most compelling in recent memory. Records will be chased. Legends will return. Newcomers will face the Mountain Course for the very first time. And somewhere between Bray Hill and the Grandstand, history will be made.
The Legends Returning
Eight former solo race winners with a staggering combined total of 97 TT victories are entered for 2026, led by Michael Dunlop with 33 wins, the all-time record he claimed at TT 2025 by surpassing his uncle Joey Dunlop. Dunlop arrives as the undisputed king of the Mountain Course, a rider whose relationship with the TT transcends results and statistics entirely.
Alongside Dunlop, defending Senior TT champion Davey Todd returns alongside outright lap record holder Peter Hickman, who continues his BMW partnership. The Hickman versus Todd rivalry has defined the Superbike class in recent years and there is no reason to expect anything different in 2026.
John McGuinness MBE, 23 TT victories to his name, will be involved in what marks his remarkable 30th year at the races. Few figures in motorsport history carry the weight of legacy that McGuinness brings to every single lap of the Mountain Course.
Ian Hutchinson, 16 time TT winner, makes a significant switch for 2026, leading the new RST official team aboard BMW machinery. A new chapter for one of the most resilient riders the TT has ever produced.
New Class, New Stories
One of the most significant changes for TT 2026 is the transformation of the Supertwin class into the new Sportbike TT, opening eligibility to three cylinder machines and British Superbike specification sportbikes for the very first time. The change broadens the field significantly and introduces machinery never previously seen competing on the Mountain Course.
Ryan Garside makes his TT debut in the Supersport and Sportbike classes aboard Triumph machinery, bringing two years of Manx Grand Prix experience and a best lap of 118.622mph to his first TT campaign. His story represents the classic TT pathway, learning the course at the Manx before stepping up to the main event with hard won knowledge and measured ambition.
The Hollywood Factor
TT 2026 carries a story beyond the racing itself. Amazon MGM is producing both a feature film and a documentary series about the Isle of Man TT, while Keanu Reeves’ Arch Racing team is eyeing an entry with their own motorcycle. The global spotlight on the event has never burned brighter.
Newcomers to Watch
Cookstown’s Gary McCoy finally makes his long awaited TT debut after injury forced postponement last year, while Donegal’s Caomhan Canny joins the entry with Scott Racing in another compelling newcomer story. In the Sidecar class, sidecar legend John Holden returns to the TT at the remarkable age of 69, alongside Tim Reeves who brings a new passenger in Estelle Farnier for Carl Cox Motorsport.
The 2026 Isle of Man TT entry list reads like a who’s who of road racing royalty combined with the next generation of Mountain Course talent. From Dunlop’s record chase to Keanu Reeves’ Hollywood spotlight, from McGuinness’s 30th year to Gary McCoy’s long awaited debut, every story deserves to be told.
The Mountain Course awaits. It always delivers.
