Mir Hit With Double Long Lap Penalty for Ignoring Jerez Black and Orange Flag

Honda’s Joan Mir was handed a double long lap penalty for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix after ignoring black and orange flags shown during final practice at Jerez. The Spaniard crashed and rejoined the circuit with a damaged bike despite the flags demanding he pull off the track immediately. The punishment makes an already difficult weekend catastrophic. Mir now faces Sunday’s Grand Prix carrying two mandatory slow laps before he can race properly.
