Tragic fatality at 2026 North West 200: Rider dies in Superbike qualifying crash

Tragic news has reached the paddock as the 2026 North West 200 is hit with heartbreak. A rider has passed away following an incident at Station Corner during Thursday morning's Superbike qualifying session.

Event Update & Schedule Changes

Despite the devastating loss, the event will continue with the full approval of the rider's family. However, at their request, the identity of the competitor is being withheld at this time.

Because the morning session was cut short by the red flag, the organizers have cancelled this evening's planned races to ensure all classes get sufficient track time. The revised schedule for Thursday evening, May 7, is as follows:

• Roads Close: 4:45 PM

• Superbike Q2: 5:45 PM – 6:15 PM

• Supertwin/Sportbike Q2: 6:35 PM – 7:05 PM

• Superstock Q2: 7:25 PM – 7:55 PM

• Supersport Q2: 8:15 PM – 8:45 PM
